Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Physiotherapy And How Can It Help Me?

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that helps to diagnose, manage, and prevent a wide range of physical and functional conditions, as well as treat and rehabilitate post surgery. Physiotherapists use a combination of exercises, manual therapy, and modalities such as Dry needling, cupping, ultrasound and electrotherapy to help patients recover from injury, surgery, manage chronic conditions, and improve their overall mobility and function.

How Long Does A Typical Physiotherapy Session Last?

The duration of a physiotherapy session can vary depending on the condition being treated and the specific needs of the patient. A typical session with us will last 30 minutes, however longer appointments are available on request.

What Should I Wear To My Physiotherapy Appointment?

Patients should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to their physiotherapy appointment. Clothing that is easy to move in and allows the physiotherapist to access the area of the body being treated is ideal. We do offer shorts and singlets should you forget your own.

What Are The Qualifications Of The Physiotherapist I Will Be Seeing?

In Australia, physiotherapists are required to hold a degree in physiotherapy from an accredited university and be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in order to practice. This typically includes completing a four-year bachelor’s degree program in physiotherapy, which includes both classroom instruction and supervised clinical experience. Once qualified, physiotherapists are also required to maintain their registration through continuing education and professional development. Some of our Physiotherapists also have a Masters degree in Sports Physio or are working towards this.

How Many Sessions Will I Need To See Improvement?

The number of sessions required to see improvement can vary depending on the condition being treated and the individual’s response to treatment. Your physiotherapist will work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan and will adjust it as needed. One of our values is ‘3 goes and we’re out’, if you are not improving or progressing how we believe you should then we will review, readjust and change direction.

Will My Health Insurance Cover The Cost Of Physiotherapy?

It depends on your Health insurance but most insurance companies cover physiotherapy treatment to some extent. It’s recommended to check with your Health insurance provider to know the details of your coverage.

Will Physiotherapy Be Painful?

Physiotherapy can be uncomfortable at times, especially when working on an injured or sore area, but the physiotherapist will work with you to ensure that the treatment is as comfortable as possible.

What Are The Side Effects Of Physiotherapy?

Common side effects of physiotherapy include soreness and stiffness following treatment, but these are usually temporary and can be managed with rest and appropriate self-care. You can contact us at any time should you have any concerns as your Physio will be more than happy to speak with you.

How Can I Get The Most Out Of My Physiotherapy Sessions?

To get the most out of your physiotherapy sessions, it’s important to be an active participant in your treatment. This means following the physiotherapist’s instructions for exercises and self-care, providing feedback about your progress, and keeping your appointments. Patients are encouraged to maintain good communication with their physiotherapist, so that they can adjust the treatment plan to better suit your needs.
