You’re never to old to start!
“It is a shame for a person to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which their body is capable.” – Socrates
Our good friend and Powerhouse regular Andy Lance (from Func Fitness) has started running classes specifically designed and targeted at older people called “Functional Seniors”. These strength training classes, focus on building strength and coordination throughout the body in a coached environment. Group sizes are limited which allow a high level of attention from Andy who is an experienced and qualified strength coach. The movements and workouts are targeted to build strength, balance and confidence.
Why is strength training important?
- As we age beyond 50 years, there is an increased rate of loss of muscle mass and bone mass/density. Strength training is the most effective way to protect against that loss.
- The majority of injuries in older people are caused by preventable falls. Physical training strengthens bones and body tissues while improving balance and coordination, thereby reducing the risk of falls that result in injury.
Whether your goal is to travel, play with grandkids or better do things around the house and garden, you will benefit from improving your strength and balance.
Sessions are run every Wednesday evening and Sunday morning. Get in touch with Andy to find out more or make a booking: firstname.lastname@example.org
